I gave myself from January 1, 2012 to December 31, 2012 to reach this goal.... I had few rules, but stuck close to not logging junk miles (i.e., I didn't have my Garmin on me at all times)...
I am proud to say that not only did I reach my goal, but I did so about two weeks ahead of schedule...
Here are the stats for the year:

I'm actually pretty proud of this accomplishment... I can't tell you precisely why I decided to become OCD with logging every little detail of every workout, but I did... Maybe it was done as an attempt to give meaning to my training, or to provide data that could be analyzed to enhance my performance...
Or maybe I did it cause I'm a huge nerd and have a huge self inflated ego and wanted to see how much I could do in a year...
The next 3 (or more) posts will split out the mileage by discipline/activity and include a "Top 3" or "Most Memorable" type breakdown of the work I put in during 2012...
I still haven't decided on what, if any, goals will be set for 2013... I know, as my buddy Eric says, that goals are easier accomplished if they are made public... In that case, I will probably make my goals public in some sort of effort to hold myself accountable to the readers of this blog (not that there are any)...
My "final thoughts" post is also forthcoming, as is my "2013" post...
Thanks for reading...
