Welcome to Woodshed Racing

DISCLAIMER: If you aren't sure what the phrase "Take 'em to the woodshed" means, then click on the little red box with"X" on it in the top right hand corner of your screen... it'll take you to a page that explains it all...

I'm hoping to have fun with this blog... I see too many triathlon/endurance sports related blogs out there that are all about the competition side of things and honestly, they all start to sound the same after you read a lot of them... Don't get me wrong, I enjoy competing and setting new PR's (personal records), but Woodshed Racing will hopefully serve as more than a "brag rag" (not that I have much to brag about)... maybe if you read it, you'll get inspired to try something new and achieve something you never thought possible...

One thing I've learned about endurance sports athletes is that they (well, we) are all a bit self obsessed... I sometimes laughe when I consider myself an endurance sport athlete, but considering I've done endurance races, I guess it kinda fits... Regardless, we're always looking for a photo op with our bike or an awesome finish line picture... I'm no different... I love that stuff, but endurance sports have a deeper meaning for me... In essence, they saved my life...

Woodshed Racing will hopefully give me a chance to share what this lifestyle means to me, my challenges, accomplishments, failures, frustrations, and inspirations...

For the first few entries, I'll post old race reports and do my best to catch everyone up on how I got here...

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Woodshed Racing

ps: Ok, so if you really don't know what "Take 'em to the woodshed" means, here goes: it's a southern slang term for dishing out a brutal beating... parents used to take their kids out "behind the woodshed to have a little talk"... you can imagine where it went from there...

So put 2 and 2 together: Woodshed Racing refers to the attitude that I take towards training and racing... I "take 'em to the woodshed... and have a little chat"... really, it's my attempt to sound like a badass, and I get a kick out of it...
