Spring 2009: a few 5K's and a challenge that changed my life...

Spring 2009:

Sig Ep Valentine's 5k, followed by some cancer 5k that we had to run indoors on a track because of the weather (it was miserable)... I kept cutting time and setting new PR's, which I never thought possible...

I had started to lose a little weight through running these races, which inspired me to keep going... I used running as a way to deal with a shitty work situation in Starkville-it's pretty much the only thing I looked forward to in my day (well, that and lunch)...

In (I'd say) late March/early April, my buddy Nick Gordon, who at the time was a Graduate Assistant in the Union at MSU offered up the following:

"Hey man, you run and lift weights pretty regularly right?"

"Um, yeah, I try."

"Wanna do a triathlon with me in October? It's in Hattiesburg, we have
plenty of time to get ready."

"Um, ok sure!"

I had no idea what I was getting myself into...

See "Don't let this body fool you" post for the full story!
